At Vat Calculator (vat-calculator.online), we run a simple, free UK VAT calculator website. We don’t ask you to create an account, and we don’t want more of your information than we need. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over your data.

Information We Collect

Calculator inputs

Everything you type into our calculators (amounts, VAT rates, and the results you generate) is processed right inside your own web browser. The numbers never leave your device. We don’t store them on our servers, and we can’t see them. You can use every calculator on this site without handing over a single piece of personal data.

Contact form

If you get in touch through our Contact Us page, you give us your name, your email address, and the message you send. We use these details only to read your enquiry and reply to it. We won’t add you to any marketing list, and we won’t use your details for anything you didn’t ask for.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, ours collects a small amount of technical information automatically: the pages you visit, the browser and device you’re using, your approximate location (country or city level), and how long you spend on the site. This helps us understand which pages people find useful and spot things that are broken. Some of this information arrives through cookies and, if we run analytics, through those tools as well.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We only use a handful of them:

  • Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working properly. For example, LiteSpeed Cache uses cookies to serve cached pages faster.
  • Analytics cookies: if we enable an analytics tool (such as Google Analytics), that tool sets its own cookies to measure visits in an anonymised way.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The calculators will keep working even if you do.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • reply to messages you send us through the contact form;
  • keep the site running, secure, and fast;
  • understand how the site is used so we can improve it.

We don’t sell your personal data, and we don’t share it with advertisers.

Third Parties

A few trusted services help this site run, and they may process limited data on our behalf:

  • Our web host stores the site’s files and keeps server logs.
  • LiteSpeed Cache helps pages load quickly and may store cached copies of pages.
  • If analytics is enabled, the analytics provider processes anonymised visit data under its own privacy terms.

Contact form messages also pass through our email provider. We only work with providers that handle data lawfully, and we never sell your details to anyone.

How Long We Keep Data

Calculator inputs are never stored at all, so there’s nothing to keep. Contact form messages are kept only for as long as we need them to handle your enquiry and any reasonable follow-up — usually no longer than 12 months — and then they’re deleted. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes.

Your Rights (UK GDPR)

If you’re in the UK, the UK General Data Protection Regulation gives you rights over your personal data. You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you (the right of access);
  • correct anything that’s wrong (the right to rectification);
  • delete your data (the right to erasure);
  • limit how we use it (the right to restriction);
  • give you a copy in a portable format (the right to data portability);
  • object to certain uses of your data (the right to object).

To exercise any of these rights, just get in touch through our Contact Us page and we’ll respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you feel we haven’t handled your data properly.

Children’s Privacy

This site is aimed at adults working out VAT on purchases, invoices, and expenses. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, and the contact form shouldn’t be used by children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, please contact us and we’ll delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add new features or change the tools we use. The latest version will always be published on this page, with the date it was last updated.

Contact Us

If you have any questions about this policy or about your personal data, you can reach us through our Contact Us page. We’ll do our best to sort things out quickly.
